Charity Coffee Morning Goes Down a Treat!

On Friday 30thSeptember businesses and households all over the UK hosted their own Coffee Mornings to raise money for worthy charity Macmillan Cancer Support, and Reade Signs was proud to be one of them. The staff café was transformed into a tantalising arena of delicious homemade treats, from chocolate cakes and brownies to flapjacks and cheesecakes – and even fresh scrambled eggs courtesy of MD Andy and his portable BBQ! Not only did the creations look amazing, they tasted even better. ‘Best Baker’ award went to John’s incredible Victoria Sponge cake surrounded with chocolate and piled high with strawberries. And Steve was the proud winner of the ‘Guess the Sprinkles’ competition. It was a great opportunity for staff to take 10 minutes out to enjoy each other’s company with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake (or two)! Reade Signs are proud to have raised £130.75 for Macmillan – exceeding the target of doubling the amount we made last year.

Reade Signs helps inspire next generation of budding writers

Young Writers and Mentoring Charity Little Green Pig recently held a week long pop-up event at the No Walls Gallery in Brighton, encouraging budding young writers with free story-making and illustration workshops. Working alongside design agency Sherlock, Reade Signs transformed a plain and neutral space into a fun, enticing and inspiring environment for the children. Emily Hogan, Development Manager at Little Green Pig was delighted with the end result: “Designers Sherlock created a fantastic look and feel for the space which was based largely on the creative use of vinyls to transform the venue, and we were absolutely delighted when Reade Signs stepped in and agreed to provide these pro bono. We had tonnes of feedback on how fantastic it looked and are extremely grateful to all at Reade for making our pop up really stand out. Huge thanks from all the team at Little Green Pig!”

Art competition winners visit Reade Signs

Competition winners Louise and Dylan with MD Andy Fergus Smith Reade Signs were proud to sponsor a World Book Day art competition held at local secondary school Fernhill. Reade Signs had quite a task on their hands in judging the entries and were pleased to announce that students Dylan and Louise were the lucky winners. Their prize included a tour of the recently refurbished and rebranded Reade HQ, where they met friendly and knowledgeable staff members from the Sales and Marketing, Design Studio and Production Teams. The Studio Team worked alongside Dylan and Louise to guide their artwork through the design and production process and demonstrated the numerous solutions that can be offered to clients. The students then watched their artwork take shape and form as it came out of the large Vutek printer on Foamex ready to take home. “We are extremely grateful to Reade Signs’ sponsorship and support – they really did go ‘above and beyond’. A number of noteable signage projects were visited by the group who were a mix of design professionals and suppliers from the UK and Holland. The day included a visit to the University of Amsterdam’s Special Collections Museum where they were shown iconic book designs and some of the first maps produced in Holland. Berkeley Group’s One Blackfriars development

Reade Signs transforms ordinary hoarding to chic and elegant marketing resource

Standing at 560ft, and rising 50 storeys on the Southern side of Blackfriars Bridge, Berkeley Group’s One Blackfriars development dominates the Thames skyline and offers some of the highest-class apartments in London. When the site underwent a rebrand across the exclusive multi-year development, they approached Reade Signs’ expert team. The existing 250 metres of site perimeter hoarding was to be removed and replaced with something to reflect the exclusivity of the modern development. Our client’s instruction was to use reflective vinyl laminated on the hoarding panels. Whilst other sign contractors may have proceeded on this instruction, our experienced industry advisors soon advised against this, having assessed potential hazards from the reflection of passing vehicles on the busy surrounding roads. Reade Signs offered the solution of using pearlescent vinyl with printed visuals laminated to ACM panels, along with self-adhesive gold text and logos, fulfilling the brief of a reflective finish with stunning impact but without dazzling drivers, thus delivering value not only in the product itself but also in averting danger and saving the huge expense of implementing twice. Reade Signs then installed illuminated flexface boxes across sections of the hoarding with built up internally illuminated lettering and LED downlighters housed within timber headers, simulating a soft ambience and class. Flexface light boxes are visually pleasing, effective, robust and durable, and ideal for use in large outdoor areas such as this. The project didn’t come without its challenges! Neighbouring Blackfriars Bridge and Blackfriars Station, the development is adjacent to some of the busiest roads in London, and as such 90% of the hoarding was very difficult to access. The Reade Team were also given a period of just 3 weeks to deliver the project. Safe in the hands of a business with decades of experience, knowledge and expertise, the Reade Signs team delivered. On time, on budget and with a happy client with a quality hoarding that reflects the prestigious development it surrounds. That is why we are approved Signage Suppliers for exclusive Property Developers such as Berkeley Homes. Our expert team, experience and additional value are second to none. Let us take care of your development and present it in the best way it deserves. Call our friendly and knowledgeable team on 01252 336000 or complete the enquiry form below.

Reade supports Berkeley Foundation with karting event at Sandown Park

The rain didn’t hinder the spirits of the Reade Team when they joined Berkeley Southern on a Karting Event at Sandown Park yesterday to support the Berkeley Foundation. The event consisted of a 3 hour endurance race comprising 29 teams of up to 6 drivers. The race proved to be quite a challenge to the Reade Team that included Andy Fergus-Smith, Roy Cheesmann, David Gerrard, Adriaan Wijsveld and Adam Grist. The wet and stormy weather added extra drama to an already very exciting and enjoyable event with all but one of the Reade Team spinning off the track at one time or another! All profits raised were in aid of charity MERU, who build assistive equipment for children and young people with disabilities.
