Setting the scene – Chelsea Creek, London

Setting the scene Location: Chelsea Creek, London Client: St George Project: Internally represent the apartments external view whilst enclosed during development. This smart installation delivered a faux balcony experience within a show apartment of which was encased during development. The solution we provided consisted of framed lightboxes fronted with back lit printed skins. This not only provided a visualisation of the apartments perspective for the customer but also delivered the right amount of light into the apartment for an accurate living experience. The LED lighting within the lightbox provided energy saving properties with accurate consistent light levels for the room plus anti-flicker. Customers enjoy taking personal videos during their sales experience and signage is now required to perform well on HD video recording as a customer may choose to take footage whilst visiting. Working with the brand team at St George has seen us provide internal selling solutions at the forefront of their marketing campaigns as showcased here. You can view previous external site hoarding and architectural wayfinding for St George in our previous blogs.

Elephant Park, Elephant & Castle, London

Elephant Park, Elephant & Castle, London Whilst developing further signage at Elephant Park we were tasked with providing a selection of infills that were to meet the latest government fire regulation standards, specifically for residential apartment blocks. Combustible sheet material has for years been the go-to within the industry for such projects, due to its quality and project longevity favoured by clients but in this case fitting this material within three metres of residential housing has now become obsolete.  To overcome the fire regulation concerns we utilised a printed roll material instead that met all regulations, provided fantastic graphic representation plus added value and peace of mind for the client. Branding and signage must meet stringent criteria within application, and it is essential that appropriate risk assessment is taken on a project to ensure all aspects of design, build and fitting meet the latest standards and legislation. Here at Reade Signs safety is paramount.

A fresh branded office environment for Lendlease

Client & location – Lendlease, Elephant Park, London UK Design agency – Chocolate Manufacturing and fitting – Reade Signs Brief – Aid design, manufacture and install a combination of full print and decal cut vinyl to walls and surfaces throughout a four-storey cabin block. Complete whilst keeping socially distant for client and employee safety. Install to be completed during out of office hours. All Lendlease – Elephant Park Whilst health and safety has ramped up with extra COVID-19 precautions it’s been an ideal time to address the look of your business internally as well as externally. Lendlease being a business who’re very much on the front foot with modern design and branding, addressed both simultaneously. Reade Signs worked alongside Lendlease’s design agency ‘Chocolate’ to deliver aesthetic graphics that meet the strict brand guidelines and marcomms that the company wish to deliver with their brand. The project saw application of signage across multiple surfaces often applied to office furniture, desks and even on technology charging lockers. Working within an office that’s on brand and delivers a company vision can really help to motivate staff, especially during a period of uncertainty like we have right now with this pandemic. You can really feel from the photographs below that employees now feel part of a new, memorable and clean environment.  “The project threw up a few challenges, including the building being partially occupied during the installation process and social distancing being a key factor to the projects progress. I found the Reade team to be extremely flexible in their approach to working out of hours where required, to ensure any time delays as a result of this did not impact the overall delivery of the project. We were all delighted with the end results that saw the hard work in the design process bought to life fantastically well, with great attention to detail and intricacy.” Rianna Day – Senior Marketing Manager

V&A Museum wayfinding signage wins prestigious award

We’re delighted that SEGD, the Society for Experiential Graphic Design, has awarded the V&A Museum’s wayfinding scheme their 2020 Honor Award. This was such a special project for us. We worked in collaboration with designers dn&co and wayfinding specialists AllPointsWest to produce a system that was discreet enough not to trump the museum’s amazing collection but also visible, clear and easy to use by visitors. The V&A is the world’s leading museum of art and design, with a permanent collection of over 2.3 million objects. The building exterior and interior are both Grade 1* listed. Being in the public domain, the signage solution had to be robust enough to deal with the high footfall but sensitive to the aesthetics of the building and its collection. In all, over the 12 miles of corridors and 145 galleries, we installed 400 directional signs. Philippa Simpson, Director of Design, Estate and FuturePlan at the V&A found our expertise in sourcing materials particularly useful and this attention to detail was focused on by SEGD, highlighting the use of dyed black tulipwood that harmonises with its surroundings but is practical and solid. One SEGD jury member commented: “So simple, yet you can see the thought and attention to detail. Beautiful juxtaposition yet amazingly seamless.” It’s great to get such recognition for a project that was so important to us, especially as since we worked with the V&A, wayfinding has taken on a new role in helping visitors to large establishments to social distance to help the spread of COVID-19. Meet Ed Hayden, Business Development Manager

Ed Hayden is one of our Business Development Managers here at Reade Signs. He’s been with us for five (slightly unusual) months so we thought we’d catch up with him. Ed is responsible for the construction team and it’s his job to build and maintain great relationships with our customers so that we understand what you need, and you get to know how just much we can offer. Ed came to us with a BA in Business Management and ten years’ in the industry under his belt and is especially focused on client liaison and product development, both of which help with problem solving – one of the key skills that helped us choose Ed. The rest of our team are already relying on him for his knowledge of the supply chain and for his great relationships with clients. So far, he has worked with some of our high-profile house-building clients; Crest, Berkeley Homes, St George, St James and Thakeham. See our Property Brochure to find out more on this market sector. Ed says, ‘It’s been a strange few months but I’m really pleased I was able to help the team during lockdown and I managed to drive sales even then. There’s a real team spirit at Reade and I feel like I’m a big part of that already.’ Outside of work, Ed enjoys countryside walks with the family, watching football and rugby and he likes to turn his hand at a bit of cooking and DIY. You can get in touch with Ed at edh@readesigns.com or give him a call on 01252 336000 or07471 518028.
